Caring for our Feathered Friends
Our Pre-Reception pupils have been busy caring for nature by making bird food and carefully placing it in their garden. Through this hands-on activity, the children learned why birds need extra support, especially during colder months, and how small actions can make a real difference to wildlife.
Mixing ingredients, handling tools and working together helped to develop fine motor skills, cooperation and independence, while gentle discussions encouraged curiosity about the natural world. Most importantly, the activity nurtured kindness, responsibility and an early understanding of caring for living things — a lovely example of learning through play and purpose.
