Nursery at The Ryleys School

Where Little Journeys Begin | Ages 12 Months to 2 Years

The first years of a child's life are filled with wonderful discoveries. First friendships, new words, growing independence and endless curiosity. At The Ryleys Nursery, we treasure every milestone, providing a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where our youngest children feel safe, happy and confident to explore.

We understand that choosing a nursery is one of the most important decisions a parent makes. Our experienced and dedicated team takes time to know each child as an individual, recognising their personality, interests and changing needs. With a caring staff ratio of 1:3 and a dedicated Key Person for every child, we build the close, trusting relationships that help children settle happily and flourish.

A World of Discovery

Our thoughtfully designed Nursery environment encourages children to learn through play, movement and exploration. Sensory experiences, music, stories, creative activities and imaginative play provide endless opportunities to develop early communication, physical confidence and social skills.

The outdoors is equally important. Our extensive, enhanced outdoor spaces offer opportunities to explore nature, investigate different textures, develop movement and discover the world through hands-on experiences. Whether splashing, digging, climbing or simply observing, every experience has a purpose, and every child is encouraged to progress at their own pace.

As part of the wider Ryleys Early Years community, our Nursery children also benefit from opportunities that make our provision so distinctive, including age-appropriate introductions to specialist teaching in music, French and movement. These experiences gently broaden children's horizons, nurturing a love of learning from the very beginning.

A Partnership with Parents

We recognise that starting Nursery is a significant step for the whole family. Our Key Person approach provides consistency, reassurance and a familiar face, helping children develop a sense of security and belonging.

Close communication with parents is fundamental to our approach. Through our secure Famly app, families receive regular updates, photographs and observations, sharing in the little moments and important milestones that make each day special.

Care in Every Detail

We believe happy children learn best. Alongside stimulating activities and exciting discoveries, our daily routines provide the familiarity, comfort and individual care that very young children need.

Freshly prepared meals from our own school kitchen, nutritious snacks, quiet time and opportunities for rest are all part of the Nursery day. All meals, snacks, nappies and wipes are included, making life a little easier for busy families.
