Year 2 Step Back in Time!

History came to life for Year 2 during their fascinating visit to Weaver Hall Museum, where pupils stepped back in time to discover what everyday life was like in Victorian Britain.

From learning about the strict rules and punishments of the era to meeting staff dressed in traditional Victorian clothing, the children enjoyed a wonderfully immersive experience. They explored how people lived, worked and learned, discovering just how different childhood was in Victorian times, particularly when it came to school life!

The visit sparked plenty of curiosity and thoughtful questions, encouraging pupils to compare life then and now while developing their historical understanding, empathy and appreciation of how society has changed.

Experiences like these are a wonderful way to bring classroom learning to life, creating lasting memories and a deeper understanding of the past. Judging by the photographs, a few pupils even found themselves in the stocks – hopefully their sentences weren't too long!
