Programming in Action
Year 1 pupils have been busy developing their early coding skills through hands-on learning with Bee-Bot robots. Using simple directional commands, the children plan, predict and test sequences to programme the Bee-Bots to move accurately across the floor. Along the way, they are encouraged to spot errors, make adjustments and try again — building resilience and problem-solving skills as well as technical understanding.
These sessions introduce key concepts such as sequencing, logical thinking and cause and effect, all presented in a playful and highly engaging way. Working collaboratively, pupils share ideas, explain their thinking and celebrate success together. It is wonderful to see such confidence and concentration at this early stage, laying strong foundations for future digital learning while keeping curiosity and enjoyment at the heart of the classroom.
