From The Head - Friday 2 October

Dear Parents,

There was a wonderful sense of community in school this morning as we welcomed so many of you to our Harvest Assembly, our first whole-school event of the academic year.

Pupils from Reception through to Year 6 took turns to perform a collection of seasonal songs, and there were some particularly memorable moments from children who challenged themselves to step beyond their own personal boundaries. It is often in these moments that we see confidence growing before our eyes, and I was extremely proud of them.

Harvest also gives us an important opportunity to remind the children that kindness and generosity are not simply things we talk about, but things we can put into action. The response from our families has been tremendous, with a very generous collection of food donated for Wythenshawe Foodbank and Hope Central Foodbank. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

It therefore felt especially appropriate to add another token to our 150 Good Deeds board this morning. Seeing the children begin to understand how individual acts of kindness can come together to make a genuine difference is exactly what this initiative is about.

There was a real feel-good factor around school afterwards and, for me, it was a lovely reminder of what can be achieved when pupils, parents and staff come together as one community.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Warm regards,

Giles Puckle, Headteacher
