The Ryleys Boys' Preparatory School

Sports

The superb facilities at the school include 8 acres of sports fields, which offer quality football pitches, rugby pitches, athletics facilities and cricket squares. There is a 5 a side astro turf pitch, fully equipped gymnasium and outdoor heated swimming pool.

Head of PE and Games, Mr Gary Wood, highlights both the quality of the various sports teams and the wide variety of opportunities for all the boys to participate fully in the extra curricular sport. The Ryleys School is very proud of its ability to combine maximum participation with professional coaching and performance levels.  As well as being highly competitive, boys are taught sportsmanship and fairplay.

Inter school fixtures and tournaments, both locally and regionally, are major parts of the sporting ethos at The Ryleys School. Regular international sports tours and trips have been arranged in the past years. These have included: football tours to Gothenburg, Sweden; Lake Garda and Milan in Italy; as well as several great rugby tours to Barcelona.

In recent years, many boys have gone on to reach County and Regional level in their chosen sports, several achieving sports scholarships at Senior Independent Schools such as Sedbergh School and Ellesmere College.
