Overseas Pupils

The Ryleys has always been very happy to welcome overseas pupils into the student body.

We have teachers on the staff who are qualified to teach English as a foreign language and have been very successful  in integrating these children into the school community.

The School, too, has benefited from the diversity of cultural backgrounds. In the last few years, we have welcomed boys from Brazil, Iceland, Japan, The Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany, Poland, USA, Canada, Australasia and Iran.

Quotes

Current Year 3 pupil (Dutch)

“My name is Joe Van der Sar. I come from Holland. I have been going to the Ryleys for 3 years now. I really enjoy it because we do lots of sports and we have nice school trips, but most of all….I love the school buffet.”

Gap Students

Each year, the staff are joined by 3 overseas Gap students from as far afield as South Africa, Australia and Zimbabwe. These young people, taking a year off between school and university, play a valuable part in the life of The Ryleys and are very popular with the boys and parents.
