TOM ROBINSON IS ‘HEADMASTER FOR A DAY’ AT THE RYLEYS SCHOOL
A day at school took on a whole new meaning for Tom Robinson,
aged 7 from Prestbury, last week, when he became Headmaster for the
day at The Ryleys School.
Tom's parents won the 'experience' in a
charity auction at the school's annual ball held in March, and Tom
was only too pleased to don a gown and take on the vast
responsibilities his new appointment bestowed on him.
He began the morning by taking assembly
for the whole school where he read a story and then gave out awards
and merit badges for that week to fellow pupils. Following that, he
performed the very important task of showing prospective parents
around the school, making them feel welcome and telling them about
life at The Ryleys.
"I think he really enjoyed himself and
took up the responsibilities very well," said Mr Pat Barrett,
Headmaster of The Ryleys School.
"At break time, he joined the senior
staff in the staff room for tea and cake followed by a busy
schedule of meetings to discuss various matters of the school
including the purchasing of new playground equipment.
"I'll need to watch my job - he's told
me that when he grows up, he's going to skip the part of being a
teacher, and go straight to being a Headmaster," added Pat.
