The Lollipop Fashion Show 2011

Paul Jakubowski, Peter Rizzardini, Alan Simms and Headmaster Pat Barrett strutt their stuff on the catwalk!

The second annual 'Lollipop Fashion Show' staged by pupils and staff from The Ryleys School in Alderley Edge, is being heralded as a huge success, having raised a staggering £18,200 for Cancer Research. The event which took place at the Belfry Hallmark Hotel in Handforth on Saturday 7th May was attended by over 300 people, who all dug deep in their pockets for The Christie Hospital.

Organized by Annette Jacobsen and Colin Gillies from Alderley Edge, the evening was held in memory of The Ryleys School teacher Paul Wright, who passed away last year following a brave battle with cancer.

Local businesses from Alderley Edge and Wilmslow showed their generosity and kindness by donating some incredible auction and raffle prizes. Harringtons jewellers donated a £3,000, half-carat diamond, and one lucky bidder took home a £3,500 Carrier Travel ski holiday in Geneva!

The evening was hosted by local celebrity Denise Welch, who kept the audience entertained throughout the evening, despite having just completed a gruelling 3-week tour with the Dancing on Ice show. Forty-five children from The Ryleys School modelled a range of clothes from Wilmslow's 'Ten Little Monkeys' whilst the adults were treated to an amazing array of outfits by Dee Tew of De-Facto clothing.

Headmaster of The Ryleys School Pat Barrett, dressed in full mortar board and gown, along with fellow teaching staff Paul Jakubowski, Peter Rizzardini and Alan Simms, took to the catwalk with an amusing re-enactment of Pink Floyd's classic 'Another Brick in the Wall'.

The organizers would like to convey their heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. It is hoped that this event will become a regular feature in the Wilmslow and Alderley Edge charitable social calendar.
