Hockey Season Off to Flying Start

Terra Nova 3-1 Ryleys U 9

On Tuesday, a very excited group of Year 3 and 4 girls travelled to Terra Nova for their first hockey match. Having had a grand total of 2 Games lessons under their belts, they were undeterred and could not wait to get started.

Following a positive start, we attacked well and were holding our space and passing quite accurately. Unfortunately, Terra Nova were the first team to score, but we did not let this dampen our spirits.

Disa was very quick on the right wing, with some solid defending from Helena, India and Olivia. Zoe, Sophie and Amy all worked well at taking the ball forward with good control on a bumpy grass surface.

In the second half we played extremely well, holding Terra Nova up, and had far more attacking play than they did. It was an all-round great effort from everyone against a team who have been playing hockey since September.

Thank you to all the parents who came to support and to Lydia and Ellen for cheering the team on so well.

Ryleys U10 Mixed 3-0 Terra Nova

We had first push back and started positively by immediately attacking. After only 2 Games sessions we were demonstrating some quality skills and good control against a developed team from Terra Nova.

All of our team played with 110% commitment and deserved to score the first goal. This gave all the players a boost of confidence and we continued in the same vein for the rest of the match.

The goals came from Harry Bennett (2) and Amaan Ahmed, leaving the final score at 3-0. A truly well-earned result. Well done to all players and thank you to the parents who came to watch and Jade, who remains out of action, for supporting the team throughout.
