From The Head - Friday 16th February 2024

Julia Langford, Headteacher of The Ryleys School, a private school in Alderley Edge, Cheshire

Incredibly, we have already reached the halfway point of the academic year and it is always a positive to be heading into spring and enjoying the lighter and longer days, looking forward to an increasing amount of time outdoors.

Once again, this half term has been one of productivity and activity, and our wonderful Eco Club has been a great example of this. In assembly this morning we were treated to a summary of all their initiatives and actions.

It was very impressive to see that not only are they helping the school to tackle local environmental issues and ones pertinent to school, but they are also taking a very global perspective by participating in the Club Ocean programme. The life-size paintings of the polar bear and shark to illustrate their point were amazing!

Apart from an extremely informative presentation about school activities and Club Ocean, there were important reminders about how daily habits and the products we use have a dramatic and negative impact on the environment and how we can all play our part. Well done, Eco Club and Mrs Yates, and thank you!

Have a lovely half term.
